Kano university vows stiff disciplinary action over harassment of female student wearing abaya

Authorities of the Kano state University of Science and Technology have apologized to a student who suffered harassment from some male students because she wore Abaya.
Abaya is a loose-fitting full-length robe worn by some Muslim women.
In the video which has since gone viral, the students were seen dragging the cloth of the female student, shouting “mai Abaya” at her.
A statement by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shehu Alhaji said the school had acted and identified some of them following reports of the incident.
According to the statement, the university had also constituted a powerful committee headed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic to identify the unscrupulous students involved and recommend immediate disciplinary action to be taken against them without delay to serve as deterrent to others.
