Tobi Amusan begins title defence with a win

Star athlete Tobi Amusan has kicked off her title defence by finishing first in the fifth heat of the women’s 100mh with a time of 12.48 seconds on Tuesday.

Amusan was able to take part in the race after she had a provisional anti-doping suspension lifted.

Speaking after the race, she said “I’m just thankful I’m here in Budapest and able to race, using my talent,” Amusan said. “It has not been the best but I’m here. I tried to stay as relaxed as possible and do what my coach tells me. So here I am.”
