Chioma Nnadi makes history as first black woman to head Vogue magazine

Nigerian Chioma Nnadi has been named the head of editorial content for Vogue magazine.

Nnadi who is a fashion journalist will be taking over from Edward Enninful who announced his resignation in June.

Nnadi is the first black female to head Vogue and she will be referred to as head of editorial content instead of editor in chief.

The journalist who is of Nigerian and Swiss-German descent in an Instagram post said, “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’m the new head of editorial content for @british- vogue.” “Huge thanks to Anna Wintour, @edward enninful and Roger Lynch for giving me this opportunity. truly honoured and so excited to be coming home. Stay tuned.”

In another post, Anna Wintour, chief content officer and global editorial director, commended Nnadi, “Chioma is beloved among her colleagues at Vogue, and is an editor and writer with an impeccable reputation — both here and in the fashion industry at large,” Wintour said. “I can’t think of a more worthy person to follow in [Edward Enninful’s] footsteps than Chioma.”
