WSCIJ plans virtual realities summit as part of journalism and society conversations

As part of activities to mark the 2023 International Day for Access to Information, the Wole Soyinka Centre (WSCIJ) for Investigative Journalism has announced plans to host a Visual Realities Media Summit on September 28, 2023.

The September 28 summit according to a statement by Motunrayo Alaka, will be virtual with the theme “Online space, access to information, and capturing social realities,” from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Zoom.

“the virtual event will explore the significance of the online space in accessing information and how investigative photos, videos, and cartoons can harness the digital landscape to portray and share social realities at scale,” the statement said.

While, the Independence Day edition, themed, “Nigeria at 63: What hope for media independence and government accountability?”, will hold on X (formerly Twitter), from 5:00pm to 6:30pm (WAT). It will delve into the pressing issues of press freedom challenges, regulatory frameworks and the pivotal role of investigative journalism in holding the government accountable and contributing to nation-building.
