Suspended UNICAL Dean granted bail

Suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon and his lawyer Sunny Anyanwu have been granted bailed by a federal high court sitting in Abuja.

Professor Ndifon and his lawyer Barrister Anyanwu are currently standing trial on amended four counts of alleged sexual harassment and an attempt to perverse the cause of justice.

In his ruling on their bail application on Friday, trial judge, Justice James Omotoso, granted Professor Ndifon bail in the sum of N250 million with two sureties who own landed properties in the FCT with a minimum value of N150 million and submit his passport to the court.

“Bail is granted to the first defendants in the sum of N250m with two sureties who own properties within FCT with a minimum valuation of N150m,” the judge said.

Anyanwu on the other hand was granted bail in the sum of N50 million Anyanwu with two sureties as well.

While Professor Ndifon and his sureties are to submit their bank statements, Barrister Anyanwu’s sureties are to submit their bank statements.

Justice Omotosho further ruled that both defendants “must file an undertaking not to interfere with the case, readiness to attend trial and not to cause delay.”

He adjourned the matter to Monday for continuation of hearing.
