Police apprehend female lawyer for assault of under-aged help

A female lawyer Adachukwu Okafor who went underground after allegedly using hot iron and knife to cause bodily harm on the body of her under aged house help has been arrested.
A statement by Ohaeri Joseph, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs on Saturday, said Mrs Okafor was arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police.
The suspect was alleged to have used a burn the privates of her under-aged house help and further used a knife to inflict injuries on her body.
The incident went viral when a video of the house-help was lying helplessly on a hospital bed was shared on social media and sparked public outrage.
The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Ohanenye, subsequently placed a N2 million bounty on the Onitsha-based lawyer.
According to the statement “the girl is still undergoing medical treatment in the hospital, but I can assure members of the public that she would get justice.
“The lady has been on the run for weeks after being reported to have inflicted severe injuries on the minor which prompted the minister to place a reward of N2 million for information on her where about,” it stated.
The statement further stressed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to collaborate with the NPF to commence immediate investigation into the matter.
