Cross Rivers NUJ makes history with election of first female chairperson

The Cross Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists made history recently with the election of Comrade Archibonganwan Eso as its first female chairperson.

Eso’s election is coming on the heels of the appointment of the former chairman Comrade Nsa Gill’s as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Cross River State.

Comrade Eso who is a staff of the Nigerian Televison Authority (NTA) Calabar was a former financial secretary of the union.

Eso in her welcome address pledged to work for the progress of the union “I pledge to work diligently towards advancing the interests of our colleagues, and to maintain the integrity and to protect the image of our noble profession in the state.”

Also elected were Comrade Sunny Inah of CRBC Chapel as the new Vice Chairman, Comrade Mike Abang from the Correspondent Chapel representing BusinessDay newspaper elected as the new Secretary of the Union while Comrade Ekong Okpa from the Chronicle Chapel was elected as Financial Secretary of the council.
