Ghana makes history by electing first female vice president

Ghana has made history by electing Professor Jane Opoku–Agyemang as her first female vice president.
Professor Opoku–Agyemang, was elected alongside John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Mahama previously led the nation from 2012 to 2017, and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia his closest contender has conceded victory.
73-year-old Professor Opoku–Agyemang is a former Minister of Education.
