Nigerian Navy gets first female pilot

The Nigerian Navy has made history with the decoration of Lt. Changfe Maigari with the ‘Pilot Wing’ award which makes her the first female pilot in its 60-year history.

According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria Lt. Maigari was presented with the ‘Pilot Wing’ award during the 2024 NN Ceremonial Sunset at the Naval Training Command Headquarters (HQ NAVTRAC) in Ebube-Eleme, Rivers, on Friday.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, while presenting the award commended Maigari and other award recipients for their exemplary achievements.

While expressing gratitude to God for achieving the feat, Lt. Maigari expressed the hope that her success will motivate younger girls to join the military especially the Nigerian Navy
