Lagos Assembly gets first female speaker
The Lagos State House of Assembly has elected a new speaker Mojisola Meranda.
Madam Meranda is the first female speaker of the Lagos Assembly.
Her election is coming after the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa who has led the Assembly since 2015.
90 percent of members voted to impeach Obasa on allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Meranda served as chief whip in the 9th Assembly and was Deputy Speaker, before her election to become speaker.
